The magic 150$ airsoft budget

Hey guys!

Some of you might be starting g airsoft out and have a budget of around 150$. This is very common and some manufactoroes try to fit the price of their guns into that. If you are completely new to airsoft and have no equipment whatsoever, You should probably add around 100-150$ to your budget to buy tactical equipment and bbs. Check my video on how to start  airsoft for more on my channel 'AirsoftFlow' on YouTube.
Some gun manufactorers like JG and Echo 1 make good, cheap and relatively well performing guns, but should not be counted on for your primary gu. for the next 3 years wthout any upgrades. Another good series is the Classic Army sport line series. They offer all the internal quality of Classic Army, but drastically reduce the price by replace the sturdy metal bodies with more fragile, plastic ones. When I first started airsoft, I got myself the CA MP5A2 sport line. I highly recommend this gun.
You can check various websites such as Airsoft GI, Evike, Airsplat, or Airsoftmegastore to find a cheap beginners gun.
Thanks for reading.

SR-25 Guide, The one and only guide you need for all airsoft SR-25.

Hey guys,

Sorry I havent posted for a long time.

I was recently browsing on the internet (Oh my god!!!) and I stumbled upon the extremely interesting post. I DID NOT WRITE IT! ALL CREDIT GOES TO 'EDI 1ST' FROM 6MM DISTRICT AIRSOFT FORUM.

Here is how it goes:

SR-25 Guide, The one and only guide you need for all airsoft SR-25.

The reason why I decided to write this is because there are way too many SR-25s with different internal settings out there.
I don't want to spend the time explaining each one whenever someone asks.

The guide is separated into two parts.
1. Introduction to different types of SR-25 and upgrade compatibility.
2. Magazine compatibility.
3. Upgrade guide and suggestions.
4. Listening to EDI ranting about why getting one with V2.5 GB.

PART 1

Generally speaking, there are 3 types of SR-25s out there based on different gear boxes.
1. V2 GB
2. V2.5 GB
3. JG/E1 GB

Note* G&P made a few version of SR-25s that has V2 GB, this include the original version and later CNC version.
The newest ones and some CNC versions are labeled with "SR-25 GB" use the V2.5 GB.

V2 includes G&G, certain G&P and ARES.
G&G GB (Pic from Dragon Spectre)

ARES GB (Pic from davkenrem)

G&G and certain G&P's SR-25 GB is just a standard V2 with longer nozzle on the cylinder head and a longer air nozzle.

ARES is the same except that they have their stupid proprietary hop and some GB parts.
The ARES GB can be modified to take all the V2 parts other than the quick change spring guide.
ARES also uses their micro switch for the trigger which is smart and stupid.
It avoids arcing like the traditional trigger contacts but the micro switch is fragile, run something with too much power, it'll get fried.
ARES's proprietary hop-up chamber is connected to the GB shell which makes the feeding position different.

V2.5 includes CA, certain G&P and A&K. (A&K is the clone version of the G&P but their GB isn't as much reinforced.)
CA (From ASGI)
G&P (From WGC)

V2.5 GB have longer cylinder and piston which give you more air volume over the V2, even if the V2 has bore up kit.
It is VERY important to have more air volume when you are running a gun with 509mm barrel and pushing heavier rounds.

The sector gear and the piston have 19 teeth to utilize the elongated cylinder.
The Cylinder head might be a V4, I never checked since the CA one works great by itself.
V2 cylinder head will work so there really isn't a need to worry.
The nozzle is V4 for sure.
Piston type is generally referred to the L85/PSG-1 group. (Yes, you can fit those pistons in V2.5 GB)
Longer tappet plate is used for the V2.5

Rest are all V2 compatible.

JG/E1 includes, well, JG & E1
(Pic from Evike)
E1 just rebrands JG
Their GB has similar "outer dimension" as the V2.5 however it has a weird cylinder head with longer body, this also requires a longer tappet plate.
Other than that, rest are all V2.

PART 2

Magazines
There are 2 types of magazines.

1. ARES
Because ARES decided to have shorter GB and forcing the hop chamber to be attached to the GB shell, the feeding position of the mag is further back.
Pic from Tokyo Model
[Image: 1262668753770826964.jpg]

2. G&P, CA, A&K, G&G, E1/JG
They all have their magazines' feeding position sitting near the edge like most other airsoft magazines.
However, G&P's magwell and magazines are wider. A&K copied them so same with A&K.
The standard SR-25 mags from G&P and A&K will fit in the CA, G&G & E1 however it'll be a tight fit.
The 7.62 LR20 PMAG, which was designed for the G&P, will NOT fit in CA, G&G or E1 without sanding down the magazines.

PART 3

Upgrades and suggestions
For the V2 parts, well, they are V2s, nothing really worth going over.....

V2.5 only parts:
Pistons: After trying a few different pistons myself and looking at others' history, the SHS and CA pistons are the way to go. I prefer SHS because they have steel teeth.

Cylinder:
Well, just make sure they are smooth like a mirror inside, polish them if needed.
If you really need to replace it, any cylinder for L85 or PSG-1 will work.
CA also makes a bore-up kit if you need it (um, well, you won't really need it at all...)

Piston Head:
Some tried the V2 piston heads and say they work, some say they don't.
SHS now makes piston heads with long nozzle for it.

Air Nozzle:
V4 compatible.

Gears:
G&P, CA, A&K, SHS all make V2.5 gear sets.
CA also has Super Torque Up gear set which has a ratio of around 32:1.
Riot used to make SR-25 gear sets but he stopped their production for a while.
He talked about bringing them back but it's being a year or so.....

Barrel/hop:
Well, they are the same as any other AEGs.
But um.....ONLY PAY FOR NICE BARRELS......
Get the ER-hop if possible, or at least the R-hop.
DO NOT get the REAPS, they are retarded, retarded, retarded.
Yea, might be an easy way out for the R-hop, but you know what? A regular bucking can do the same.......
And it isn't better than the R-hop.

When upgrading, also do "those" modifications if you can and tune/install parts properly.
Accuracy/Range
Barrel Stabilization
R/ER-hop (ER is strongly suggested)

Compression
Compression Tests
Teflon Taping Cylinder Head
Piston O-Ring Stretching
Sanding the Tappet Plate
Polishing Cylinder & Cylinder Head
Cylinder Head Tip / Nozzle Seal Mod

Gearbox
Rounding the Edgies of the Cylinder Port
Correcting Angle of Engagment

PART 4

Yea, I'm going to rant, it won't be long.
V2.5, why why why why why. Why not?
The bigger and more reinforced GB means that it's stronger and will take on just about any springs without risk of getting a "crackhead".
With Sorbo and Radius GB, I'm pretty sure that you'll be save with the MS210 spring.

OH LOOK! MORE AIR VOLUME.
Cylinder to barrel ratio is pretty important, it's the difference that'll determine whether or not you'll hit that kid from FAR FAR away.

509mm barrel and the fact that you'll be using heavier rounds mean that you'll need even MORE air volume.

So....if you have the money, get the damn smexy G&P SR-25.
If you only have some money, get the CA SR-25.
If you are near dead broke, get the A&K SR-25.

Anything else.....idk....I'll slap you maybe? lol
Well, if it's a P* or DG...I guess that's fine.....
But eh, those will probably be G&P...since they just throw the kits into existing SR-25s.

Um yea...that's about it....

Here's one of my SR-25s.....

What is Airsoft?

If you are new to Airsoft, you are wo probably ndering this:

What is a Airsoft?
Where can I play?
What guns can I use?
Where can I buy them?
Is it safe?
What should I wear?

Hopefully I will be able to answer all of your questions in this post.

IS IT LIKE CALL OF DUTY???
No. Go away if you want an experience similar to Call of Duty... This is airsoft!

According to wikipedia, Airsoft is a sport or recreational activity in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with spherical non-matalic pellets launched via replica firearms.

Here is my definition.

Airsoft is a sport in which players try to hit it each other with BB's (plastic spherical pellets) or reach a designated objective with replica firearms. The sport is a hobby know all over the world and is extremely fun and entertaining. It can be played with 5 - 300 players from all ages (depending on where you live minors may not be allowed). there is a huge range of firearms going from a classic S&W revolver to the infamous rocket propelled grenade launcher. Most Airsoft guns are Electric (AEG: Automatic Electric Gun), but there are also co2 and Gas powered guns. There is also a sub category called Blowback, meaning the slide moves back every time you fire. This gives it a more realistic and AWESOME feel. There are electric blowbacks (The power to move the slide  back and the BB is from the battery), and gas blowbacks (The power to move the slide and the bb is from green gas or Co2). Most pistols are gas or Co2 powered, and most assault rifles (meaning they can switch from full auto to semi automatic) are Electric, but there are some exceptions. GBB Assault rifles are often more expensive than AEGs. You can play in the forest, a field, an abandoned house (MUST BE SAFE), any scarcely populated area. (DO NOT PLAY IN PUBLIC AREAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)You can buy airsoft guns on a lot of airsoft websites including:

Evike.com
Airsplat.com
Airsoftglobal.com
airsoftgi.com
airsoftmegastore.com
redwolfairsoft.com
airsoftworld.com
asiaairsoft.com
ehobbyasia.com
uncomany.com
wgcshop.com
gunfire.pl
airosfteurope.com

and many other websites...
Airsoft is safe AS LONG AS YOU USE EYE PROTECTION. When you get hit by a bb it stings for a surprisingly short time, just a little pinch, and as long as the person shooting you doesnt have an insanely powerful gun and light bbs. Most airsoft guns are between 300fps and 400fps (fps standing for feet per second) Please read my post about bbs.
For airsoft all you need to wear is a pair of safety glasses and clothes (captain obvious speaking here). You can even wear a costume. its all up to you, but don't forget to wear eye protection or YOU WILL LOSE AN EYE!

On that happy note, thank you for reading!

Modifying your Airsoft gun useful tips:

Many people modify there gun because they want to get more power, range or accuracy out of there gun. The next few tips should hopefully help you in your future modifications.

Gearbox versions:

There are 9 types of airsoft gearboxes, each designed to fit a specific shape of a type of gun, for example version 2 gearboxes are for M4-M16 kind of guns, Version 6 for M1A1 Thompsons or P90s etc etc...

Version 1: these gearboxes where the first AEG ( Automatic Electric Rifle) gearboxes. They are designed by Tokyo Marui and are used in the L85 and early Tokyo Marui FAMAS. The motor is inside the gearbox which makes it durable. The disadvantage with this gearbox is that there aren't many if not no upgrade or replacement parts.

Version 2:  These gearboxes are quite common and very upgradable gearboxes. They are used in all M4 - M16  and Mp5 bodies. find more about this gearbox at http://www.airsoft-barracks.com/forums/topic/2376-gearbox-versions-and-compatibility-guide/

Version 3: The version 3 gearbox is not quite as common as the Version 2 gearbox but still as popular. It is very similar working to the V2 but performs differently. It is found in AUGs AK47s and G36s.

Version 4:  The version 4 gearbox is very rare and is only found in the PSG-1. Find out more at http://www.airsoft-barracks.com/forums/topic/2376-gearbox-versions-and-compatibility-guide/

Version 5: The version 5 gearbox is very skinny
and used only in the UZI. It is mainly made
out of Plastic

Version 6: This gearbox is used in the P90 and
M1A1. It is quite similar with the version 2.

Version 7:  This gearbox is used on M14s. it is very durable
and has unique parts.

Version 8: The V8 is only used in the type 89. It is very similar
to the V2 gearbox except it had a burst option.

Version 9: This gearbox is very new and has a completely
new design. It is used in the Tokyo Marui AK74MN.

Barrels

Many people change their barrel to tight bore barrels ( With a diameter of less than 6.05 mm ) They do this because the
tighter the barrel is to the BB, the less it can bounce and move around and will therefore be more accurate. You can also make your gun more accurate by changing the length of the barrel. Here is a list of guns and their barrel length:

Bushings:
Bushings are placed on the shell of the gearbox. They are where the different gears are held in place.
They are changed if you put a more powerful spring in your gun. (Changed from plastic to metal). To do this you need to know the diameter of the bushing for your gearbox.

Version 1: 7mm Plastic

Version 2: 7mm Plastic

Version 3: 6mm  '

Version 4:  ?

Version 5:  ?

Version 6: 6mm Metal (Including two ovular ones)

Version 7: Any will fit

Version 8: Version 7

Version 9: Any will fit

You can fit different types of bushings in a gearbox. Usually the bigger the better. Above 8mm is just stupid to put on.

Inside The gearbox:

You can change many things inside the gearbox including the:

Cylinder: If you are getting a drastically longer barrel

Piston & Piston head: This can be very useful if you get a stronger spring or you want to have better air compression in the cylinder. Another technique with pistons is called "Swiss Cheesing". This means you make small holes in certain areas of the piston. This will increase the power by a bit but will also decrease the structural integrity of the piston.

Spring: This an upgrade which many people do. Different  springs are called M120 or SP110 according to the METERS per second the project the bb at. (M120= 400fps) Modifying your spring may require you replace other parts of your gearbox which will be exposed to wear and tear. This can be very expensive.

Air nozzle: Replacing the air nozzle is a good and inexpensive way of getting more compressed air down the barrel.

Gears: You will have to get more solid gears if you buy a more powerful spring. They can be very expensive but to give more lifespan to your gearbox.

Spring guide: If you get a more powerful spring, I suggest getting a new spring guide.

Outside the gearbox:

Barrel: Getting a new tight bore barrel is one of the best upgrades you can buy. For around 50$ You can make your airsoft gun an accuracy beast (I suggest a longer 6.03 barrel)

Mosfet: A mosfet can be useful to get a faster trigger response or if you just want the awesome three round burst function!

Battery: A better battery is a simple yet very effective way of modifying your airsoft gun. A new 9.6v battery can give your gun a higher rate of fire or give your motor more power to pull back a harder spring. Don't forget to read my post about 11.1v LiPos

Accessories:

Scope: A new scope can be very useful for aiming and enemy recognizance. I do not suggest a more than 1.5x zoom on a AEG and not more than 4x zoom for a Sniper rifle. If a Scope says its "3x30" it means that the magnification is 3x and the size of the aperture is 30mm.

PEQ box: PEQ boxes can be useful to store your bigger battery and still make your gun look awesome.

R.I.S system: If you want to install almost any accesory on your gun you will need and RIS rail somewhere. You can buy these from prices ranging from 20$ to 200$.

Which BB to choose!

A lot of people wonder which bb they should use. Most of them use .20g bbs.
There is a wide choice on the market between .12g to .43gs.
It all really depends on how powerful your gun is and how much range you want to get.
Lets say you had a 400fps gun. If you use .20g bbs it will fire at around 400, but if you use .25gs it will shoot at 360fps. You are probably thinking " OMG I want my gun to 500fps!!!!". If you use .25gs the gun will be 360fps, BUT it will have a significantly higher range.

Why?
The bb receives the energy from the air compression, but then loses it as it exists the barrel. With heavier bbs, the slower it will lose the power, but it will have a lower average speed. The bb has more momentum to than a .20g or .12g bb. It will also be more accurate. anything less than .20 with a powerful gun will quickly exit the barrel but then lose al its momentum as it leaves the barrel.
Think of it as a sprint runner compared to a marathon runner. The sprint runner is going to run very fast in the first 200m+ and then stop because of exhaustion, a .12-.20g bb will go very fast for the first 100 feet and the drop drastically because it would have lost all its energy. A marathon runner can run 40km without stopping. A .23g bb will go further than a .12 or .20.

So, now, Which bb?

If your gun is 250fps or less I suggest .12g bbs because if you use heavier it will not give enough energy to carry it far enough. If you have a spring pistol then I suggest .12g bbs.

If your gun is 280fps+ (Tokyo Marui for example) then you can use .20-.25 bbs. If you want to shoot long range than use .23-.25 or even .30 Maximum.

If your gun is anything above 330 fps than you can definitely use .25g +. If you have a 400fps .3g should work like a marvelously.

Different types of bbs: .12, .15, .18, .20, .23, .25, .28, .30, .32, .35, .38, .40, .43

About 11.1v Lipo Batteries

Hi!

There are different types of batteries including 7.2v NimH, 7.2v Lipo, 8.4v, 9.6v , 11.1v Lipo etc...
A lot of people wonder if their Airsoft gun is "Lipo ready"
Most Airsoft guns can handle 11.1v batteries BUT they will not last as long. If you used a 11.1v battery on a really poorly made Airsoft gun then the gearbox will soon brake, If you use it on a Tokyo Marui or a G&P than it will last longer than other guns, but it wont last as long than using a 8.4v or 7.2v.
A great alternative to a 11.1v Lipo is a 7.2v Lipo. Although it does decrease the ROF, it is sill a great battery.
In conclusion, most guns can handle Lipos, but the question is for how long. It is your decision.

R733 Custom

This is just a short post about my Custom R733 Commando by Tokyo Marui.
Check out the video on my channel!

I bought this gun second hand with my friends for about 110 euros. The only problem was that it was only 280fps. I had never taken apart a gun before by I decided to go for it as it was Tokyo Marui.
I installed an M120 spring and a air seal aluminum air nozzle. Then later on I installed an Aluminum Swiss cheesed piston. It is now 400fps.

When I fired thee gun it was a real shock. The gun had genuine recoil!
I am thinking of getting a new piston head and a crane stock to the gun...

I might pant it olive drab in some parts

Review of Taurus pt 24/7

This a very Nice pistol for the price. There are a few cons about it:

Paint rubs off mag
Mag is full metal, gun is not

But overall this is a very sturdy gun with a VERY nice grip. The sights are extremely good as the have white dots on the which make them easy to see in darker areas. In another video, I will explain how to disassemble this gun. Here are a few pros about it:

Sturdy
VERY nice grip
tactical rail
improved iron sights

Specs:

Power:310-320fps with .2g bbs and 390-400fps with .12bbs
Weight: 560g
Price: 65-90$ (50-70 e)
Mag capacity: 15rds
